The photos tell the tale. We are moving. I have to say, it all sounded quite a bit more interesting back in February when the possibility first presented itself. A call from an old college friend, an intriguing job offered, and, an old regret reconsidered sparked much conversation and many “what ifs?” As a result, as of last week, John has retired, has started a new and challenging job (the old regret), and (saving the best??? for last) is now working from home …or rather, from the living room sofa…which has put the total kibosh on most of the activities in my studio next door. Of course, that really isn’t too much of an issue, because along with all the above, we have decided it is time to “get out of Dodge” (aka New York). And, it has mostly fallen to me to pack it all up, the working theory being that most of the stuff is mine, anyhow!
To make the story even more interesting: I am not sure if it is “the green” thing driving us, or if we are just cheap, but I have turned into a dumpster diver, ever on the hunt for just the right box for yet another oddly-shaped thing (I seem to have a lot of those). It is mind-boggling that before I am done, I will have handled and considered whether to keep, toss, or sell absolutely every single thing I own. We aren’t exactly down-sizing; more like, re-sizing, hoping to find just the place for the way we live now. How it will all turn out is still a mystery that I would love to have solved soon (yesterday, maybe?) Uncertainty is NOT my strong suite.
Of course, the sad part in all of this is that the art has taken the hit. Not sure what I can do about it. Not a happy camper at the moment, though.
